STEFAN WEGENKITTL

Hello and welcome! My homepage has moved to www.stefan.wegenkittl.com since October 2004, please follow the link to obtain up-to-date information on me.

My current affilation is at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences and Technologies, School of Telecommunications Engineering (TKS). I was affiliated to the pLab group of Prof. Peter Hellekalek at the Institute of Mathematics, University of Salzburg for more than 6 years doing research related to the quality assessment of pseudorandom number generators. Here my main interest was in the stochastic modeling and statistical testing area including Markov chain models and frequency and return-time based statistics for this kind of stochastic processes. I received the B.S. and M.S. degrees (both in Mathematics) from the University of Salzburg and completed the PhD on Mathematics at the same University.

My PhD Thesis contains a discussion of a generalized phi-divergence measure suited to test relative frequencies of visits in every state of a Markov chain, and an application to the testing huge-period random generators. See my Master's Thesis for an introduction to the field of empirical assessment of pseudorandom number generators in general.

I was also responsible for a systematic empirical study in which we applied the overlapping serial test to a battery of well known linear generators and to selected inversive, quadratical and long period linear generation methods.
